1. Integration of first and second generation bioethanol processes using edible filamentous fungus Neurospora intermedia
Sammanfattning : Establishing a commercial, lignocellulose-based, second-generation ethanol process has received several decades of attention by both researchers and industry. However, a fully economically viable process still remains a long-term goal. LÄS MER
2. Second generation of Glucose Biosensors : Biofuel cells and Neurotransitters
Sammanfattning : Different FAD dependent GDH enzymes together with the Os-redox polymer Os(4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridine)2(PVI)10Cl]+ and a modified graphite electrode was shown to have distinct selectivity and high turnover rates towards glucose. The results of this study suggest that such electrodes may be applied either for glucose determination or as bioanodes in glucose biofuel cells. LÄS MER
3. Techno-economic evaluation of integrated lignocellulosic ethanol production
Sammanfattning : Sweden has claimed that it wants to have a fossil-free vehicle fleet in 2030 as a milestone of its ambitious goal for 2050 to be a country with a sustainable and resource-efficient energy supply without any net GHG emissions. Production of bioethanol from plant materials is one potential method of meeting this goal. LÄS MER
4. Development of integrated cellulose- and starch-based ethanol production and process design for improved xylose conversion
Sammanfattning : Transportation fuels from renewable resources such as ethanol are one of the alternatives to ensure energy security and decrease the net emission of carbon dioxide. First-generation ethanol production from sugar- and starch-based raw materials (1G) is today well established in many countries, and the focus of research has thus shifted to the development and demonstration of the production of second-generation bioethanol from lignocellulose (2G). 5. Second-generation High-Order Harmonic Sources — From CPA to OPCPA
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents two sources of extreme ultraviolet (XUV) radiation based on high-order harmonic generation (HHG) in gases. The sources were developed for experiments requiring high-flux harmonic beams or HHG pulses at high-repetition rate. These were used experimentally to image nano-scale objects. LÄS MER
