11. Holocene and Latest Glacial Paleoceanography in the North-Eastern Skagerrak
Sammanfattning : Detailed information on past oceanographic and climatic changes is crucial for our understanding of natural climate variability and for the assessment of future climate variations. Sediments strongly influenced by the North Atlantic Current accumulate at high rates in the northeastern Skagerrak, forming a potential highresolution archive for information on past climatic and oceanographic processes and events. 12. Nonlinear Numerical Simulations of Interactions Between Ice Rubble and Structure
Sammanfattning : This research is focused on three distinct but interconnecting topics:1) investigation of physical and mechanical properties of ice rubble, 2) material modelling of ice rubble, 3) numerical simulation of the interaction between ice rubble structure interaction. large scatter in the values of physical and mechanical properties of ice rubble can be seen in the literature due to non-standardised methods. 13. Importance of blue mussels for biodiversity and ecosystem functioning in subtidal habitats
Sammanfattning : Blue mussels, Mytilus spp., occur on rocky and sedimentary shores worldwide where they often form dense aggregates. These assemblages change the local environment and create unique habitats. LÄS MER
14. Fluxes and transformation of carbon in the Siberian shelf seas under changing environment
Sammanfattning : The Arctic is especially vulnerable to the increased air temperature caused by emissions of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere, carbon dioxide being one of them. In this thesis, both fieldwork and modelling of the East Siberian Arctic Shelf (the Laptev Sea and the East Siberian Sea) have been carried out to investigate the carbon system in this region. 15. Time Simulation of the Behaviour of Damaged Ships in Waves
Sammanfattning : The cause of event and ability for ship survival after damage are in many cases poorly described by pure static considerations. The dynamic properties of the ship and environment will be significant in the assessment of the damage scenario. Physical theories describing these properties have been developed since many decades.
