  1. 16. Simulations and measurements of free surface flow in regulated rivers

    Författare :Anders G. Andersson; Mats Billstein; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Strömningslära; Fluid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Open channel flow near hydropower stations is of interest for both engineering and environmental applications. In this research project Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations of free surface flow in regulated rivers were applied with both fish migration and validation of numerical simulations in focus. 2. 17. A Spatial Scale Approach to Fish Habitat Ecology and Impacted Rivers

    Författare :Henry H. Hansen; Eva Bergman; Max Lindmark; Dana Infante; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fish Habitat Models; River Ecology; Novel Riverscapes; Spatial Scale; Fish Communities; Anthropogenic Impacts; Sustainability; River Management; River Restoration; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Fish biodiversity in rivers is threatened by continual habitat loss. Evidence to support management and restoration of rivers requires information about the specific habitat requirements for entire fish communities. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Dissolved and suspended transport of tungsten, molybdenum, and vanadium in natural waters

    Författare :Susanne Bauer; Johan Ingri; Carl-Magnus Mörth; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tungsten; molybdenum; vanadium; Baltic Sea; redox cycling; suspended particles; boreal rivers; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Sammanfattning : Some transition metals and metalloids occur primarily as oxyanions in natural waters including antimony, arsenic, chromium, molybdenum, tungsten and vanadium. These oxyanions can pass through cell walls along the same pathways as phosphate or sulfate. Some of these oxyanions are essential for life, but in high concentrations they become all toxic. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Response of Bolivian Altiplano Lakes to Seasonal and Annual Climate Variations

    Författare :Ramiro Pillco; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENSO; terminal lake; bathymetry; lake level; water balance; lake routing; paleolakes; climate change; precipitation pattern; intermittent rivers.; Desaguadero River; Lake Titicaca; Lake Poopó;

    Sammanfattning : The Bolivian Altiplano is situated between two mountain ranges, the western and eastern central Andes in South America. It has two major lakes, Lake Titicaca to the north, and Lake Poopó to the south, which both are important for the nature as well as for the living conditions on the Altiplano. The two lakes are the remnants of large paleolakes. LÄS MER

  5. 20. När floden märkte marken : Om bruket av översvämningsmark längs med Emån och Ätran 1500–1910

    Författare :Oscar Jacobsson; Anders Wästfelt; Johan Berg; Jesper Larsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; historical geography; agricultural history; water history; floodplain; Sweden; wetland reclamation; meadows; Emån; Ätran; agricultural transformation; human-environment relations; geografi med kulturgeografisk inriktning; Geography with Emphasis on Human Geography;

    Sammanfattning : Large landscape transformations were an integral part of the agricultural revolution in Sweden, starting during the late 18th century. The 19th century was an especially intensive century when it comes to the transformation of the cultural landscape, not the least marked by extensive changes in the use of agricultural wetlands with interventions in watercourses, lowering of lakes and wetland reclamation.
