21. Three-dimensional numerical modelling for studying smolt migration in regulated rivers
Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis considers the numerical modelling of natural river flow for studying the importance of hydraulics on the outmigration of juvenile salmon and trout (smolt). The construction of power plants and dams in Swedish rivers has led to disturbances in the migration of the fish. LÄS MER
22. 3-D numerical modeling of flow and sediment transport in rivers
Sammanfattning : The fully integrated 3-D, time dependant, hydrodynamic and sediment transport numerical model ECOMSED was used to simulate flow and sediment transport in rivers. ECOMSED was originally developed for large water bodies such as lakes and oceans and solves the primitive equations of RANS along with a second order turbulence model in an orthogonal curvilinear σ- coordinate system. 23. Theoretical Investigation into Longitudinal Dispersion in Natural Rivers — A Scaling Dispersion Model
Sammanfattning : Using a broad variety of scientific methods this dissertation systematically investigates the fundamental mechanisms underlying the dispersion processes in natural rivers and their mathematical descriptions in a geometrical framework. Emphasis is on the geometrical variations and irregularities of a natural river and their scales. LÄS MER
24. Hydrogeochemical effects of hydropower regulation on river-aquifer continuum in boreal rivers
Sammanfattning : Hydropower infrastructure affects many large rivers worldwide, threatening riverine and coastal ecosystems by fragmenting flow, disturbing landscapes and water retention and altering sedimentation and primary production. This thesis investigated major impacts of hydropower regulation on hydrological and geochemical processes in large boreal rivers. LÄS MER
25. Private Rivers : Politics of Renewable Energy and the Rise of Water Struggles in Turkey
Sammanfattning : Private Rivers is a study of contested processes whereby use rights to water are privatised for electricity production. It engages with the issues of renewable energy solutions and the sustainability of run-of-river hydro projects in Turkey by investigating the connection between these policies and justice for rural populations, whose livelihood depends on the rivers.
