1. Time dependent material properties of shotcrete for hard rock tunnelling
Sammanfattning : In this thesis different mechanical properties for shotcrete (sprayed concrete) such as compression strength, bond strength, bending tensile strength, elastic modulus, free and restrained shrinkage as a function of its age was investigated. One of the main issues was to investigate the difference between ordinary cast concrete and shotcrete. LÄS MER
2. In-plane tension behaviour of masonry
Sammanfattning : The main purpose of the present work is to increase knowledge of in-plane tension behav-iour of masonry and develop a model able to describe the impact of parameters influencing cracking caused by restrained shrinkage. In the process the mechanism of load transfer between units and mortar joints is described. LÄS MER
3. Control of Cracking due to Imposed Strains in Concrete Structures
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with crack control due to imposed deformations in concrete structures. The objective of crack control may either be to prevent cracking or to limit the crack widths. The aim here is to increase the knowledge in both fields for some common structures. Five papers are included and the three last concern crack development. LÄS MER
4. Analyses of shotcrete stress states due to varying lining thickness and irregular rock surfaces
Sammanfattning : Shotcrete is sprayed concrete applied pneumatically under high pressure and was invented in the beginning of the 1900's. This new technique decreased the construction time and since steel fibres were introduced in the shotcrete during the 1970's, shotcrete has been the primary support method for tunnels. LÄS MER
5. Steel fibre reinforced concrete toppings exposed to shrinkage and temperature deformations
Sammanfattning : The work presented in the thesis primarily focuses on problems that are characteristic for thin layers of concrete exposed to imposed loads. More specific, the work aims at investigating, or rather finding ways to evaluate the efficiency of steel fibres as regards the limitation of crack widths in concrete under restrained conditions.
