1. Experimental methods to determine model parameters for failure modes of CFRP
Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is to develop methods to predict the damage response of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymers (CFRP). In the pursuit of reducing the manufacturing cost and weight of CFRP components, it is crucial to enable modelling of the non-linear response associated with various failure modes. LÄS MER
2. A Damage-Based Interface Model: Application to the Degradation and Failure of a Polycrystalline Microstructure
Sammanfattning : A constitutive model for material interfaces is presented. The model is based on damage coupled to plastic (or viscoplastic) slip and dilatation, and it is able to describe the successive degradation and failure of an interface. LÄS MER
3. Modelling, failure modes prediction and optimization of gear shifting mechanism, Application to heavy vehicle transmission systems
Sammanfattning : The transmission system has a key role to drive a vehicle transmitting power from engine to rotational motion at wheels. Gear shifting mechanism inside the gearbox is a crucial part of the transmission system. LÄS MER
4. Smokeless Tobacco (Snus) and Cardiovascular Disease : Associations with Heart Failure and Prognosis after Myocardial Infarction
Sammanfattning : Previous investigations of snus use (oral moist snuff, a Swedish form of smokeless tobacco) and cardiovascular disease have generally focused on atherosclerotic events such as myocardial infarction and stroke, likely because smoking is such a well-established risk factor for atherosclerotic disease. Smokeless administration of tobacco circumvents most of the atherogenic effects of the combusted products from smoked tobacco, but it is possible that the potent autonomic and hemodynamic effects of snus and nicotine per se are detrimental for cardiovascular tissues. 5. Compressive Failure of NCF Composites
Sammanfattning : The necessity to reduce environmental impact promotes transportation industry to reduce energy consumption of vehicles. One possible way to improve vehicles' structural efficiency is to utilize modern composite materials that offer excellent mechanical performance-to-weight ratio. LÄS MER
