  1. 31. Combined heat and power plants in decarbonized energy systems: Techno-economics of carbon capture and flexibility services at the plant, city and regional levels

    Författare :Johanna Beiron; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Negative emissions; Flexibility; CCS; District heating; Energy system modeling; Combined heat and power; Techno-economic assessment;

    Sammanfattning : Our present energy system is the main driver of climate change. Variable renewable electricity generation and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) are key technologies in the transformation to a sustainable energy system, but their broad implementation implies challenges related to energy system flexibility and energy requirements of CDR technologies. 2. 32. Bio-SNG from Thermal Gasification - Process Synthesis, Integration and Performance

    Författare :Stefan Heyne; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; process integration; process modelling; performance indicators; biomass; energy systems; synthetic natural gas; gasification;

    Sammanfattning : Biomethane or synthetic natural gas (Bio-SNG) produced from gasified renewable woody biomass is a promising option for replacing fossil natural gas. The complete interchangeability with natural gas in all its conventional applications such as in the power generation, transportation and chemical industry sector is of particular interest. LÄS MER

  3. 33. Developments in Ground Heat Storage Modeling

    Författare :Alberto Lazzarotto; Björk Folke; Michel Bernier; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Borehole fields; g-functions; network; inclined; integrated design; Energy Technology; Energiteknik; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Ground heat storage systems can play an important role for the reduction of green house gases emissions by increasing the exploitation of renewable energy sources and “waste heat” with a consequent diminution of the use of fossil fuels.A ground heat storage consists in an array of vertical boreholes placed in such a way that promotes the mutual thermal interaction between the ground heat exchangers creating the necessary conditions required to effectively store and retrieve heat. Sammanfattning : The main objective of this thesis is to investigate two different concepts for CO2 mitigation, from a system perspective, in relation to the oil refining industry: CO2 capture and storage; and algae-based biofuels. For all these processes, process integration with an oil refinery is assumed. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : IPCC reported in its climate change report 2013 that the atmospheric concentrations of the greenhouse gases (GHG) carbon dioxide (CO2), methane, and nitrous oxide now have reached the highest levels in the past 800,000 years. CO2 concentration has increased by 40% since pre-industrial times and the primary source is fossil fuel combustion. LÄS MER
