  2. 2. Heated air gaps : a possibility to dry out dampness from building constructions

    Författare :Tord af Klintberg; Folke Björk; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Water damage; convection; air gap; building; construction; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The air gap method is a modification of the common way of building indoor walls and floors. The aim of the method is to make a construction, less fragile to water damage, with air gaps where moisture can be removed with a thermally driven air flow, caused by a heating cable. The thesis includes a number of experimental studies of this method. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Environmental Impact of Concrete Structures - with Focus on Durability and Resource Efficiency

    Författare :Nadia Al-Ayish; Folke Björk; Kjartan Gudmundsson; Katarina Malaga; Otto During; Katja Fridh; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Life cycle assessment; environmental impact; concrete structures; resource efficiency; durability; supplementary cementitious materials; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Concrete is essential for the construction industry with characteristic properties that make it irreplaceable in some aspects. However, due to the large volumes consumed and the energy intense cement clinker production it also has a notable climate impact. LÄS MER

  4. 4. An Approach Towards Sustainable Building

    Författare :Navid Gohardani; Folke Björk; Kjartan Gudmundsson; Göran Lindahl; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sustainability; Built environment; Sustainable renovation; High-efficient insulation materials; Sweden Green Building Council; Vacuum Insulation Panels VIP ; Decision making; GreenBuilding; Early stage; Stakeholders; A Concept for promotion of sustainable retrofitting and renovation in Early Stages ACES ; Early Stage Primary Energy Estimation Tool ESPEET ;

    Sammanfattning : The motivation for development of energy efficiency and implementation of novel advanced materials applied in buildings can be traced to increasing energy costs in conjunction with an enhanced environmental awareness among people. This doctoral dissertation presents contributions towards sustainable building, where factors such as building technology, energy efficiency in buildings, workers' health issues during construction measures, and certain economic considerations for renovation of buildings have been considered. Sammanfattning : According to the Swedish Government's set targets for energy use and environmental quality imposed by the European Union, the total energy per heated unit area in residential and commercial buildings will have to be decreased by 20% in 2020 and 50% by 2050 in relation to the annual consumption of 1995. The building sector should additionally be completely independent of fossil fuels for energy usage, with the increasing sector of renewable energy continuously growing until 2020. LÄS MER
