1. Thermally stable electrical contacts to 6H silicon carbide
Sammanfattning : Silicon Carbide (SiC) are at present being developed for use in high temperature (≥ 500◦C) and high-power environments under which conventional semiconductors can hardly perform. Thermally stable electrical contacts are essential to the ability of SiC to function under such extreme conditions. LÄS MER
2. Teratogenicity as a consequence of drug-induced embryonic cardiac arrhythmia : Common mechanism for almokalant, sotalol, cisapride, and phenytoin via inhibition of IKr
Sammanfattning : During the last years, drugs that prolong the repolarisation phase of the myocardial action potential, due to inhibition of the rapid component of the delayed-rectifying potassium channel (IKr) have been in focus. In addition to arrhythmogenic potential, selective Ikr-blockers have also been shown to be embryotoxic and teratogenic in animal studies. LÄS MER
3. Ion Transport in Glial and Neuroblastoma Cells
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis has been to increase our understanding of the ion channel function and the ion transport mechanisms in glial cells. The analysis has also covered Na channel function in human neuroblastoma cells in order to get a basis for similar studies of glial cells In paper I isotopes 42K and 201 Tl were used to compare the K+ transport properties in cell lines from human malignant gliomas (U-251MG and Tp-378MG), carcinomas, and brain metastasis. 4. Intermediate heat exchange in binary distillation
Sammanfattning : AbstractThe overall reason for investigating intermediate heat exchange in diabatic distillation is to enable a reduction in external energy demand. This thesis applies computer simulations and experimental measurements to evaluate and analyse the use of intermediate heat exchange in binary distillation. 5. Vasodilator actions of EDHF and anandamide
Sammanfattning : Vasodilator responses to endothelium-derived hyperpolarizing factor (EDHF) and anandamide in isolated arteries were investigated. A combination of the potassium channel blockers charybdotoxin and apamin inhibits EDHF-mediated relaxations. LÄS MER
