  1. 36. Gastrointestinal involvement in familial amyloidosis with polyneuropathy : a clinical study

    Författare :Lars Steen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; amyloidosis; electromyogram; malabsorption syndrome; gastric acid; gastroscopy; radioisotopes; radiography; intestinal mucosa;

    Sammanfattning : Familial Amyloidosis with Polyneuropathy was first recognized in Portugal and reported by Andrade in 1952. The disease is rare, but clustering of the patients has been reported from Portugal, Japan and northern Sweden. The gastrointestinal involvement in the Swedish form of the disease was studied in this investigation. LÄS MER

  2. 37. Applications of Laser-Plasma Acceleration

    Författare :Kristoffer Svendsen; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; laser wakefield acceleration; betatron radiation; X-rays; X-ray imaging; phase-contrast imaging; VHEE; radiotherapy; radiography; fuel injector; tomography; beam focusing; atomizing sprays; nanowires; liquid mass; target normal sheath acceleration; applications; charged particles;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is dedicated to the investigation of laser-plasma particle acceleration concepts. Some of the work was focused on improving electron and proton acceleration for future applications, in terms of maximizing the particle energy and minimizing the divergence of the X-ray beams. 3. 38. Radiological methods in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis

    Författare :Tomas Söderman; Adel Shalabi; Anders Sundin; Suzanne Werner; Marie-Louise Wretling; Seppo Koskinen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rheumatoid arthritis; Cervical spine; Radiography; Computed tomography; Magnetic resonance imaging; ACL reconstruction; Knee laxity; Long-term evaluation; Osteoarthritis; KOOS; SF-36; Tegners Activity Scale; IKDC; Quality of life; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The dissertation's theme is the critical role of radiology when evaluating two different groups of patients. Firstly, patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) of the cervical spine were studied to evaluate upper spine instability with dynamic computed tomography (CT). LÄS MER

  4. 39. Epidemiology of osteoarthritis in Sweden. Register and cohort studies on prevalence and mortality

    Författare :Aleksandra Turkiewicz; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Epidemiology; Osteoarthritis; Knee; Hip; Radiography; Mortality; Registers; Missing data;

    Sammanfattning : Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis and often causes pain and functional impairment. Despite its high burden on society, knowledge about the occurrence of OA and its associated mortality is sparse. LÄS MER

  5. 40. Detection of pulmonary nodules in chest tomosynthesis: Comparison with chest radiography, evaluation of learning effects and investigation of radiation dose level dependency

    Författare :Sara Asplund; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chest radiography; Chest tomosynthesis; Nodule detection; Observer performance; Free-response receiver operating characteristics;

    Sammanfattning : Chest tomosynthesis is a relatively recently introduced technique in healthcare, which produces section images of the chest at a lower radiation dose than computed tomography (CT) and with better depth resolution than conventional chest radiography. The primary aims of the studies described in this dissertation were to compare chest tomosynthesis with conventional radiography, to evaluate the effects of clinical experience and learning with feedback on the performance of observers analyzing tomosynthesis images, and to investigate the effect of radiation dose level in tomosynthesis, in the detection of pulmonary nodules.
