11. Photoluminescence Studies of Single Quantum Dots
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy studies of single III-V semiconductor quantum dots (QDs). The electronic properties of the QDs, as well as, the dynamics of the processes taking part inside and in the surroundings of the QDs have been studied by single quantum dot photoluminescence spectroscopy, time resolved spectroscopy, and correlation spectroscopy. 12. Green Chemical Synthesis of II-VI Semiconductor Quantum Dots
Sammanfattning : Nanotechnology is the science and technology of manipulating materials at atomic and molecular scale with properties different from bulk. Semiconductor QDs are important class of nanomaterials with unique physical and chemical properties owing to the quantum confinement effect. LÄS MER
13. Quantum technologies for secure communications
Sammanfattning : Quantum technologies promise to revolutionize a variety of fields such as metrology, cryptography or computing, among others. The resources that quantum mechanics offers allow us to design faster optimization algorithms, to improve security in communications, and to measure quantities beyond the grasp of current technology. 14. Thermoelectric Phenomena in Quantum Dots
Sammanfattning : Thermoelectricity is being intensively researched as it is believed to hold great promise for applications in power generation and cooling. One way to quantify the electrical power output of a thermoelectric material is the power factor, a function of electrical conductivity and thermopower. LÄS MER
15. Spin splitting in open quantum dots and related systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses electron spin phenomena in semi-conductor quantum dots/anti-dots from a computational perspective. In the first paper (paper I) we have studied spin-dependent transport through open quantum dots, i.e., dots strongly coupled to their leads, within the Hubbard model. LÄS MER
