  1. 1. Infants in Control : Prospective Motor Control and Executive Functions in Action Development

    Författare :Janna Gottwald; Gustaf Gredebäck; Claes von Hofsten; Daniela Corbetta; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :infant development; action development; prospective motor control; executive functions; action planning; motor development; motion tracking; embodied cognition; developmental psychology; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis assesses the link between action and cognition early in development. Thus the notion of an embodied cognition is investigated by tying together two levels of action control in the context of reaching in infancy: prospective motor control and executive functions. 2. 2. Manual Motor Development in Infancy : Execution and Observation of Actions

    Författare :Therese Ljunghammar Ekberg; Gustaf Gredebäck; Claes von Hofsten; Jeffrey J. Lockman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; Infancy; Motor development; Reaching; Actions; Motor prediction; Prospective motor control; Social cognition; Stereopsis; Mirror neuron system; Mu rhythm; Motor impairment; Autism Spectrum Disorder; High-risk siblings; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Of all motor skills, manual reaching might be the one ability that matters most for infants’ perceptual, cognitive and social development. Reaching allows infants to learn about object properties, but also gives opportunities for socializing with others. LÄS MER

  3. 3. School-age outcomes of children born at the limit of viability : a Swedish national prospective follow-up study at 10 to 12 years

    Författare :Aijaz Farooqi; Serenius Fredrik; Hägglöf Bruno; Neil Marlow; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :school-age outcome; extremely immature; functional limitations; growth; special health care needs; mental health; executive functions; Pediatrics; pediatrik;

    Sammanfattning : Background/Aim: During the past two decades, major advances in maternal-fetal medicine, neonatology, and the development of regionalized perinatal care have resulted in dramatic increases in survival rates, by more than 60%, of extremely immature (EI) infants born at less than 26 completed weeks of gestation, creating a new infant population. Studies of school-age outcomes in children with an extremely low birth weight of < 1000 g, born in the1980s, indicated that these children had a substantially high prevalence of low-severity neuropsychological deficits, behavioral problems, and difficulties at school. 4. 4. Prediction in Typical and Atypical Development

    Författare :Sheila Achermann; Terje Falck-Ytter; Pär Nyström; Sabine Hunnius; Jonathan Delafield-Butt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Prediction; Infancy; Developmental Psychology; Motor Development; Motor Control; Motion Tracking; Executive Functions; Embodied Cognition; Eye Tracking; Visual Motion; Predictive Coding; Autism Spectrum Disorder; Infant Siblings; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Forming predictions about what is going to happen next is a crucial ability that develops early in life. Theory and some empirical evidence suggest that predictive abilities may be impaired in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Micro- and Nanostructures for Studies of Model Biological Systems

    Författare :Cassandra Niman; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []

    Sammanfattning : Sub-cellular biological components are complex systems that work together to control and maintain cellular activity and health. It is useful to study the basic elements that constitute the sub-cellular components using model systems, which mimic certain parts of the overall system, in order to better understand the system as a whole.
