    Sammanfattning : In Sweden between 32-38,000 women annually elect to terminate pregnancy by means of induced abortion, though their reasons are still not well understood. The purpose of these studies, carried out at the Department of Obstetrics and gynecology and of Community Medicine at University Hospital, Malmö, was to elucidate the incidence of induced abortion in an urban population, with special emphasis on epidemiological and socio-demographic factors, the women's attitude to abortion, and the incidence and severity of post-abortion emotional reactions.     Sammanfattning : The development of real-time ultrasound in the 1970's made indelible inpact on antenatal care. Assessing foetal growth and detecting deviations from normal in both growth and foetal anatomy became fesible. Expectant parents could also 'see' their foetus. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Smoking habits, attitudes to smoking, and sources of information were monitored at three antenatal clinics (ANC) in suburban Stockholm, Sweden, during 1987-88. A questionnaire was mailed to pregnant women and their partners in a pre-intervention study. Of 582 women enlisted at the ANCs, 433 (74%) were included. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis, consisting of five studies, was to examine what midwives do when they encounter women with alcohol use during pregnancy; to evaluate and implement screening instruments aimed at identifying at an early stage women with a hazardous level of alcohol consumption; and to provide a basis for preventive measures.
