Sammanfattning : The immediate post partum period may be particularly important for the developing relationship between mother and infant. This report consists of two studies: the first study (paper I) gives descriptions of the interaction between infants and their parents during the first hour post partum and the second study (papers II-IV) in this report examines the effect of extra contact during the first hour following delivery. 9. Depression and partner violence before and after childbirth
Sammanfattning : This thesis comprises studies of prevalence and indicators of depressive mood during pregnancy, two months and one year post partum as well as on studies of prevalence, and indicators of being hit by the partner in the first post partum year and disclosure of such violence. A national cohort of 4600 Swedish-speaking women were recruited to the KUB project (Kvinnors Upplevelse av Barnafödande) and consists of about 70 percent of women enrolled in early pregnancy to antenatal care during three predestined weeks. Sammanfattning : This thesis comprises two population-based studies of mental illness in childbearing women in Stockholm. The principal aims in study I were to find out to what extent postnatal depression (PND) in mothers was identified at Well-Baby Clinics (WBCs) and to study its prevalence using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS).
