  1. 26. Plant Major Intrinsic Proteins - natural variation and evolution

    Författare :Jonas Danielson; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MIP; aquaporin; plant; natural variation; evolution; Arabidopsis; Physcomitrella patens; NIP; XIP;

    Sammanfattning : Major Intrinsic Proteins (MIPs, also called Aquaporins, AQPs) are channel forming membrane proteins. Although initially functionally characterized and named after their water channeling property in human red blood cells, it has become increasingly evident that MIPs are present in all types of organisms and transport a variety of small, uncharged molecules besides water. 2. 27. Calreticulins- Calcium-Binding Proteins with Functional Diversity and Evolutionary Duality

    Författare :Staffan Persson; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant biochemistry; plant; isoforms; evolution; diversity; differential regulation; chaperone; calnexin; calmegin; calcium; Arabidopsis; calreticulin; Växtbiokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Calreticulin is a multifunctional protein mainly localized in the endoplasmic reticulum in eukaryotic organisms, except yeasts. The protein comprises three distinct regions: the N-terminal N domain, the C-terminal C domain, and the central P domain, reflecting the functional diversity of calreticulin. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Nucleotide-Dependent Processes in the Thylakoid Lumen of Plant Chloroplasts

    Författare :Björn Lundin; Cornelia Spetea Wiklund; Zach Adam; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; plant; chloroplast; thylakoid; nucleotide; PSII; PsbO; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Plants, algae and photosynthetic bacteria are able to harvest the sunlight and use its energy to transform water and carbon dioxide to carbohydrate molecules and oxygen, both important to sustain life on Earth. This process is called photosynthesis and is the route by which almost all energy enters the biosphere. LÄS MER

  4. 29. The Plasma Membrane H+-ATPase - Identification of a 14-3-3 binding motif

    Författare :Fredrik Svennelid; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; regulation; Plant biochemistry; Växtbiokemi; plasma membrane; plant; phosphorylation; isoforms; H -ATPase; fusicoccin; C terminus; binding motif; 14-3-3; autoinhibitory domain;

    Sammanfattning : The P-type plasma membrane H+-ATPases form a group of proteins only found in plants and fungi. The pumping of protons across the plasma membrane, energized by ATP hydrolysis, creates an electrochemical gradient that is essential for solute transport and internal pH regulation. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Cyanobacteria in symbiosis with plants : Protein patterns and regulatory mechanisms

    Författare :Martin Ekman; Birgitta Bergman; Dave G. Adams; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cyanobacteria; symbiosis; Nostoc; Gunnera; Azolla; nitrogenase; modification; heterotrophic; proteomics; unsequenced; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cyanobacteria belonging to the heterocystous genus Nostoc, capable of oxygenic photosynthesis and nitrogen fixation via the enzyme nitrogenase, may form symbiotic associations with plants. In these associations most of the N2 fixed by the symbiotic cyanobacteria (cyanobiont) is transferred to the host, which in turn supplies the cyanobiont with fixed carbon. LÄS MER
