  1. 1. Nucleotide-Dependent Processes in the Thylakoid Lumen of Plant Chloroplasts

    Författare :Björn Lundin; Cornelia Spetea Wiklund; Zach Adam; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; plant; chloroplast; thylakoid; nucleotide; PSII; PsbO; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Plants, algae and photosynthetic bacteria are able to harvest the sunlight and use its energy to transform water and carbon dioxide to carbohydrate molecules and oxygen, both important to sustain life on Earth. This process is called photosynthesis and is the route by which almost all energy enters the biosphere. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Photosynthetic water oxidation : the function of two extrinsic proteins

    Författare :Tatiana Shutova; Göran Samuelsson; Stenbjörn Styring; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; photosystem II; Psb0; Cah3; water oxidation; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The solar energy accumulated by photosynthesis over billions of years is the sole source of energy available on Earth. Photosystem II (PSII) uses the sunlight to split water, an energetically unfavorable reaction where electrons and protons are extracted from water and oxygen is released as a by-product. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Nucleotide-binding Proteins in the Plant Thylakoid Membrane

    Författare :Sophie Heurtel Thuswaldner; Cornelia Spetea Wiklund; Bengt Persson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; plant; Arabidopsis; photosynthesis; thylakoid membrane; nucleotide-binding; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Life on Earth is dependent on the oxygen produced through photosynthesis. The thylakoid membrane is the site for the light-driven reactions of photosynthesis, which oxidize water and supply energy in the form of ATP, mainly for carbon fixation. The utilization of ATP in the lumenal space of the thylakoid has not been considered in the past. LÄS MER
