  1. 1. Phylogeny and biogeography of Gunnera

    Författare :Livia Wanntorp; Lennart Andersson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Växter; fylogeni; Tvåhjärtbladiga; Magnoliopsida; systematisk botanik; Systematic Botany;

    Sammanfattning : The angiosperm genus Gunnera consists of 30-40 species mainly distributed in Africa, New Zealand, Tasmania, South America, the Malay Archipelago and Hawaii. Because of its distribution in almost all parts of the Southern Hemisphere and to its 90 millions year's history on Earth, Gunnera is especially interesting for its biogeography. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Cyanobacteria in symbiosis with plants : Protein patterns and regulatory mechanisms

    Författare :Martin Ekman; Birgitta Bergman; Dave G. Adams; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cyanobacteria; symbiosis; Nostoc; Gunnera; Azolla; nitrogenase; modification; heterotrophic; proteomics; unsequenced; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cyanobacteria belonging to the heterocystous genus Nostoc, capable of oxygenic photosynthesis and nitrogen fixation via the enzyme nitrogenase, may form symbiotic associations with plants. In these associations most of the N2 fixed by the symbiotic cyanobacteria (cyanobiont) is transferred to the host, which in turn supplies the cyanobiont with fixed carbon. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Establishment of the Gunnera-Nostoc symbiosis : Christina Johansson

  4. 4. Developmental patterns in the Nostoc-Gunnera symbiosis

    Författare :Erik Söderbäck; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Gunneraceae is an angiosperm family comprising about 60 species scattered in the southern hemisphere. All members of the family develop a nitrogen-fixing symbiosis with intracellularly located Nostoc. The aim of the present study was to characterize the symbiosis, structurally and physiologically, with emphasis on G. magellanica and G. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Specificity in natural and artificial cyanobacterial symbioses

    Författare :Malin Nilsson; Kristina Lindström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; växtfysiologi; Plant Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : Cyanobacteria, primarily of the genus Nostoc, form symbioses with a wide variety of plants. The diversity of cyanobacterial strains in these symbioses, and the specificity of interaction, vary greatly. A high diversity at the strain level has been suggested for bryophytes and cycads, whereas a low diversity is found in lichens. LÄS MER
