  1. 26. Localization of lipoprotein lipase in mouse pancreas, kidney and placenta : impact of metabolic disturbances on cellular distribution and activity regulation

    Författare :Rakel Nyrén; Gunilla Olivecrona; Paolo Parini; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lipoprotein lipase; pancreas; kidney; placenta; angiopoietin-like protein 4; high-fat diet; obesity; mice; PET CT; nutritional status; triglyceride; GPIHBP1; medicinsk och fysiologisk kemi; Medical and Physiological Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is the key enzyme for metabolism of triglycerides in plasma lipoproteins. In recent years many new facts about the enzyme and its regulation have been uncovered. The endothelial membrane protein GPIHBP1 translocates LPL through endothelial cells and holds the enzyme in place at the luminal side of the capillary endothelium. LÄS MER

  2. 27. Nutritional status, body composition and diet in patients with rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Ann-Charlotte Elkan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Rheumatoid arthritis; rheumatoid cachexia; body composition; fat-free mass; fat-free mass index; nutritional questionnaires; body mass index; dyslipidemia; oxLDL; anti-phosphorylcholine;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease with higher mortality rate than in the general population, which is largely attributed to cardiovascular disease (CVD). Another consequence of the inflammatory process is change in body composition with decreased muscle mass and increased fat mass. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Assessment and monitoring of nutritional status in chronic kidney disease patients

    Författare :Thiane Gama-Axelsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) often suffer from malnutrition and protein-energy wasting (PEW) resulting in poor nutritional status which is a powerful predictor of mortality. As it is not clear how well nutritional markers used in the clinical care of these patients accurately reflect nutritional status we evaluated in post-hoc, cross-sectional observational studies several common markers of malnutrition and PEW, and assessed their correlations to each other and to survival in patients with CKD stage 5 (CKD 5). 4. 29. Self-Perceived Health and Nutritional Status among Home-Living Older People : A Prospective Study

    Författare :Yvonne Johansson; Anna-Christina Ek; Margareta Bachrach-Lindström; Tommy Cederholm; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Energy intake; Gender; Health Physical activity; Risk for malnutrition; Symptoms of depression; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim was to follow the development of nutritional status and its significance for general health status using an epiemiologic method in a representative population‐based selection of older individuals in two cohorts. The main focus was to prospectively examine the significance of demographic, social and medical factors and to establish a basis to investigate the possibilities of preventive measures. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Impact of nutritional status and diet on cognitive decline and survival

    Författare :Behnaz Shakersain; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis investigated the complex relationship between nutritional status and survival and the impact of dietary intake on cognitive decline in older Swedish adults. The data used in the four studies (I‒IV) in this thesis were derived from the Swedish National Study on Aging and Care in Kungsholmen (SNAC-K). LÄS MER
