  1. 21. Preclinical Molecular Imaging using Multi-Isotope Digital Autoradiography - Techniques and Applications

    Författare :Anders Örbom; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Autoradiography; Radioimmunotherapy; Antibodies; Molecular Imaging; Multi-Radionuclide Imaging; Silicon-strip detector;

    Sammanfattning : Molecular imaging, both in vivo and ex vivo, is playing an increasingly important role in preclinical medical research. When using radionuclide-labeled tracers, e.g. in the development of radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging or for radionuclide therapy, quantitative in vivo imaging can be performed using emission tomography. 2. 22. Optimizing drug therapy among people with dementia : the role of clinical pharmacists

    Författare :Maria Gustafsson; Hugo Lövheim; Maria Sjölander; Jörn Schneede; Stig Karlsson; Håkan Melhus; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Psychotropic drugs; potentially inappropriate drugs; drug-related problems; old people; dementia; nursing homes; drug-related hospitalizations; medication reviews; clinical pharmacists; geriatrik; Geriatrics;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Drugs are one of the cornerstones in the management of many diseases. In general, drugs are used for diagnosis, prevention, mitigation of symptoms, and, sometimes, to cure disease. However, drug treatment in elderly people, especially those with dementia and cognitive impairments, may involve significant risk of adverse drug events. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Targeting DNA repair pathways for cancer therapy

    Författare :Saeed Eshtad; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Accumulation of genomic mutations is the consequence of failure in DNA repair as well as increased exposure to endogenous/environmental mutagens. DNA repair pathways safeguard the human genome from such mutagens, and thereby suppress the multi-step process of carcinogenesis. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Multi-Photon Interactions with a Time Structure

    Författare :Alexander Baev; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :nonlinear optics; two-photon absorption; mirrorless lasing; charge-transfer chromophores; solutions; resonant photoemission; life-time vibrational interference; scattering duration time; electron Doppler effect; polymers;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis concerns aspects of the interaction ofmatter in gas, liquid and solid phases, with electromagneticradiation, ranging from the optical to the X-ray region. Overthe last decade the availability of ultrashort strong laserpulses as well as of high power synchrotron sources of tunableX-ray radiation has stimulated a rapid development of newexperimental techniques which makes it possible to analysedifferent physical, chemical and biological processes inunprecedented detail. 5. 25. Methods for selection and optimisation of radiotherapy and early therapy evaluation in breast cancer

    Författare :Tomas Jansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Breast cancer; human; radiotherapy; multi-leaf collimator; breast-conservingsurgery; local recurrence; p53; positron emission tomography; chemotherapy evaluation; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; Oncology; onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Adjuvant systemic therapy for breast cancer, the most common malignancy in females, increases survival and this has recently also been demonstrated for postoperative radiotherapy. The aims of this study were to develop an optimised radiotherapeutic technique for postoperative treatment, to analyse the association between p53 status in node-negative patients and radiotherapy, to investigate the incidence of in-breast relapses after conservative surgery and radiotherapy and to determine if positron emissiontomography could be useful for early evaluation of polychemotherapy.
