  1. 1. Diffusion MRI with generalised gradient waveforms : methods, models, and neuroimaging applications

    Författare :Deneb Boito; Evren Özarslan; Magnus Herberthson; Anders Eklund; Ida Blystad; Frederik Laun; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Diffusion; Diffusion MRI; Microstructure; Brain; White matter; Microscopic anisotropy; Constrained optimisation;

    Sammanfattning : The incessant, random motion of water molecules within biological tissues reveals unique information about the tissues’ structural and functional characteristics. Diffusion magnetic resonance imaging is sensitive to this random motion, and since the mid-1990s it has been extensively employed for studying the human brain. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Investigation of Nuclear Materials with Positron Measurements

    Författare :Petty Bernitt Cartemo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; depth profiling; positron beam; nuclear materials; radiation damage; positron lifetime measurements;

    Sammanfattning : Positron Annihilation Lifetime Spectroscopy can be used to characterize radia- tion-induced material defects to subsequently optimize nuclear materials with respect to radiation damage. Nuclear Systems of the future such as Generation IV and fusion concepts demand high performance from structural materials, comprising a material's stability in highly-radiative and hot environments. 3. 3. From Particle-Production Cross Sections to KERMA and Absorbed Dose for the Case 96 MeV n-12C Interactions

    Författare :Bel E. Bergenwall; Ayşe Ataç; Eva Lund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Fast neutrons; En = 96 MeV; charged-particle production; 12C n; px ; 12C n; dx ; 12C n; tx ; 12C n; 3Hex ; 12C n; ax reactions; cross sections; KERMA; microscopic measurements; absorbed dose; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Neutron-carbon interactions have been studied with a focus on charged-particle production of relevance to radiation protection and medical applications, such as cancer therapy. The measurements have been performed using the particle-detection setup, MEDLEY, and the 96 MeV neutron beam at the The Svedberg Laboratory in Uppsala. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Partial Discharges at Fast Rising Voltages

    Författare :Thomas Hammarström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; short rise time; cavities; high dV dt.; measurements; Partial discharges; square like voltages; repetitive voltages;

    Sammanfattning : The present demand for higher efficiency and flexibility in the energy sector has led to an increased use of power electronic generated waveforms as these allow energy conversion between different frequencies including DC. The generated waveforms are usually synthesized by so called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) techniques, where the desired waveform is approximated by a number of square shaped pulses with a short rise time. 5. 5. Microscopic Properties of Superdeformed Nuclei

    Författare :Lennart B Karlsson; Matematisk fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; statistical physics; gravitation; superdeformation; Nilsson-Strutinsky; modified oscillator potential; moments of inertia; transition energies; rotational bands; quadrupole moments; spin assignments; identical bands; additivity.; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; classical mechanics; relativity; quantum mechanics; kvantmekanik; klassisk mekanik; thermodynamics; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; termodynamik; relativitet; statistisk fysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1999:Karlsson;

    Sammanfattning : Many high spin rotational bands in superdeformed nuclei have been found in the A ~ 140-150 region, but so far no linking transitions to known normal-deformed states have been found in these nuclei. Therefore, configuration and spin assignments have to be based on indirect spectroscopic information. LÄS MER
