  1. 1. From Particle-Production Cross Sections to KERMA and Absorbed Dose for the Case 96 MeV n-12C Interactions

    Författare :Bel E. Bergenwall; Ayşe Ataç; Eva Lund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Fast neutrons; En = 96 MeV; charged-particle production; 12C n; px ; 12C n; dx ; 12C n; tx ; 12C n; 3Hex ; 12C n; ax reactions; cross sections; KERMA; microscopic measurements; absorbed dose; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Neutron-carbon interactions have been studied with a focus on charged-particle production of relevance to radiation protection and medical applications, such as cancer therapy. The measurements have been performed using the particle-detection setup, MEDLEY, and the 96 MeV neutron beam at the The Svedberg Laboratory in Uppsala. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Properties and analysis of dioxin-like compounds in marine samples from Sweden

    Författare :Kjell Lundgren; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; planar dioxin-like compound; polychlorinated dibenzofuran; polychlorinated biphenyl; polychlorinated naphthalene; alkylated polychlorinated dibenzofuran; high-performance liquid chromatography; PX-21 carbon column; biomagnification factor; biota to sediment accumulation factor; fluxes; relative retention time; mass spectrometry; relative response factor; ultra-violet spectroscopy; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and dibenzofurans (PCDFs), and dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) have been assigned toxic equivalency factors (TEFs). These compounds are today routinely analysed with sophisticated analytical techniques. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Elimination of caffeine metabolites in man

    Författare :Nikolaos Rodopoulos; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :C8-oxidation capillary elearophoresis dimethylxanthines high-performance liquidchromatography liver cirrhosis N-acetylation N-demethylation monomethylurates monomethylxanthines;

    Sammanfattning : Plasma, saliva and urinary caffeine (CA), paraxanthine (PX), theobromine (TB), theophylline (TP) and their metabolites were, after separation into fractions by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), quantitated by capillary electrophoresis (CE). In healthy adults, 96% of the total amount of excreted compounds derived from CA were dimethylxanthines (DMXs) and metabolites, the remainder 4% being nonmetabolized CA and its non-demethylated urate. 4. 4. Assessment of Aerobic Capacity A Novel Rating Scale and Further Development of an Exercise Test including Analysis of Gas Exchange

    Författare :Anita Wisén; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; kinesitherapy; revalidation; rehabilitation; Rehabilitering medicinsk och social ; Physical medicine; Time constant of V O2; Cycle ergometer; Perceived Capacity; Perceived exertion; Heart rate; Oxygen uptake; Reference values; Oxygen kinetics; Repeatability; Thresholds;

    Sammanfattning : Different methods are proposed to assess the aerobic capacity. A novel scale, rating of perceived capacity (RPC) based on metabolic equivalents (METs) from 1 to 20, is presented. Selected MET values are linked to physical activities. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Bile acid metabolism in humans : regulation of synthesis and circadian rhythms

    Författare :Amani Al-Khaifi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Interfering with bile acids (BAs) signaling within the enterohepatic circulation (EHC) has recently emerged as an important way of controlling human metabolic homeostasis. This is highly relevant to a number of frequent disease entities such as dyslipidemia, fatty liver disease, insulin resistance, obesity, type 2 diabetes, gallstone disease and BA-induced diarrhea.
