  1. 31. Boundary layer streaks as a novel laminar flow control method

    Författare :Sohrab Sattarzadeh Shirvan; Jens H. M. Fransson; Edward B. White; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; boundary layer stability; laminar to turbulent transition; laminar flow control; drag reduction; Tollmien-Schlichting waves; oblique waves; streaky boundary layers; miniature vortex generators; discrete suction;

    Sammanfattning : A novel laminar flow control based on generation of spanwise mean velocity gradients (SVG) in a flat plate boundary layer is investigated where disturbances of different types are introduced in the wall-bounded shear layer. The experimental investigations are aimed at; (i) generating stable and steady streamwise streaks in the boundary layer which set up spanwise gradients in the mean flow, and (ii) attenuating disturbance energy growth in the streaky boundary layers and hence delaying the onset of turbulence transition. 2. 32. Regulation of Ovarian Aromatase: Studies by Aromatase Assays in vitro and in vivo

    Författare :Dmitrijus Kirilovas; Mats Brännström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics and gynaecology; aromatase; human; granulosa cells; 11C-vorozole; active site; allosteric configuration; in vitro; in vivo; PET; androgens; rat; estrous cycle.; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; Obstetrics and women s diseases; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; Obstetrics and Gynaecology; obstetrik och gynekologi;

    Sammanfattning : An in vitro method was developed for measuring aromatase, based on binding of competitive aromatase inhibitor [11C]vorozole to the active site of the enzyme. [11C]Vorozole displayed high, specific binding in vitro to human placenta and human granulosa cells (GC), both fresh and frozen/thawed cells, provided correct procedures were used. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, computational methods for theanalysis and design of photonic bandgap structure areconsidered. Many numerical methods have been used to study suchstructures. Among them, the plane wave expansion method is veryoften used. LÄS MER

  4. 34. Progressive landslides in long natural slopes : potential extension and configuration of finished slides in strain-softening soils

    Författare :Stig Bernander; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik; Soil Mechanics; Geoteknik;

    Sammanfattning : A finite difference method is presented for progressive slides in long natural slopes. The method is based on a strain softening material model. A detailed worked out example is given as well as examples using a spread sheet PC program and a PC program for Windows. LÄS MER
