   Sammanfattning : The main purposes of this thesis were to evaluate a high-intensity functional weight-bearing exercise pro­gramme, regarding its applicability (attendance, achieved intensity, adverse events) as well as its effect on physical functions and activities of daily living (ADL) among older people living in residential care facilities, with a special focus on people with dementia. Furthermore, a main purpose was to systematically review the applicability and effects of physical exercise on physical functions, cognitive functions, and ADL among people with dementia. LÄS MER

   Sammanfattning : Impairments in balance, mobility, and lower-limb strength are common in the growing population of older people and can lead to dramatic consequences for the individual, such as dependency in activities of daily living, admission to nursing home, falls, and fractures. The main purposes of this thesis were, among older people in residential care facilities, to validate a fall-risk assessment tool and to evaluate a high-intensity functional weight-bearing exercise pro-gramme regarding its applicability as well as its effect on physical functions and falls.    Sammanfattning : Background: Physical activity among adolescents is diminishing and worldwide about 80% of 13–15-year-old adolescents do not meet the public health guidelines of minimum 60 minutes of daily physical activity of at least moderate intensity. This decline in physical activity has serious consequences as lack of physical activity adversely affects physical and mental health. LÄS MER

   Sammanfattning : The aims are to investigate cancer patients' perceived satisfaction with a Group Rehabilitation (GR) intervention, to evaluate its effects, and to explore the extent to which the patient's coping style (monitoring, blunting) modulates the effects of the GR. An additional aim is to investigate to what extent some aspects of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) [Physical Functioning (PF), Emotional Functioning (EF) and Global Quality of Life (QoL)] one year after diagnosis can be predicted on the basis of medical, socio-demographic and psychological data collected att diagnosis.    Sammanfattning : The aim was to evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of functional and nutritional assessments in geriatric rehabilitation in Copenhagen, Denmark, and in addition to study clinically identifiable risk factors for undernutrition, association between nutritional and ADL status, feasibility and effectiveness of nutritional intervention conducted by the nursing staff, and the nursing staffs attitudes towards nutrition-related assessments. Two data collections were conducted in the geriatric clinics in Copenhagen. LÄS MER
