  1. 6. Heterogeneous electron transfer studies with ligninolytic redox enzymes and living bacteria. Applications in biosensors and biofuel cells

    Författare :Vasile Coman; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cellobiose dehydrogenase; direct electron transfer; mediated electron transfer; self-assembled monolayer; flow injection analysis; amperometric biosensor; E. coli; succinate:quinone reductase; biofuel cell; B. subtilis; whole-cell biosensor;

    Sammanfattning : The catalytic properties and the inter-domain electron transfer of cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) from the ascomycete fungus Myriococcum thermophilum adsorbed on graphite and thiol (SAM) modified gold electrodes were investigated using cyclic voltammetry, flow injection amperometry and UV-Vis spectroelectrochemistry. The fabrication and characterisation of a noncompartmentalised, mediator and cofactor free glucose–oxygen biofuel cell well-operating in glucose-containing buffers and human blood serum was performed. Författare :Elin Sundin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Solar fuels; charge separation; dye-sensitized; semiconductor thin films; electron transfer;

    Sammanfattning : Converting solar energy into a storable form in chemical bonds, i.e., generating solar fuels, is a promising strategy for producing renewable fuels. This however comes with several challenges that need to be solved before generation of solar fuels can become a reality. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Graphene Hot-electron Transistors

    Författare :Sam Vaziri; Mikael Östling; Max Lemme; Suman Datta; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Graphene; hot-electron transistors; graphene base transistors; GBT; cross-plane carrier transport; tunneling; ballistic transport; heterojunction transistors; graphene integration; graphene transfer; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Graphene base transistors (GBTs) have been, recently, proposed to overcome the intrinsic limitations of the graphene field effect transistors (GFETs) and exploit the graphene unique properties in high frequency (HF) applications. These devices utilize single layer graphene as the base material in the vertical hot-electron transistors. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Protein and polyelectrolyte layer-by-layer films: Assembly and electron transfer

    Författare :Karolina Haberska; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; layer-by-layer assembly; nanoparticles; electron transfer; bioelectrocatalysis;

    Sammanfattning : A layer-by-layer deposition technique for assembly of the three-dimensional bioelectrochemical systems, with potential applications such as sensing layers in biosensors or catalytic organisations in biofuel cells, was addressed in this thesis. Several investigations were carried out to understand and control multilayer films formation on planar surfaces, using electrochemical and ellipsometrical methods. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The catalytic and electrochemical properties of tryptophan repressor-binding protein (WrbA), pyranose dehydrogenase (PDH), cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) and glucose dehydrogenase (GDH) on carbon electrodes were investigated using cyclic voltammetry and flow injection amperometry to construct biosensors and biofuel cell (BFC) anodes. WrbA has a catalytic FMN-containing domain whereas both PDH and GDH have a catalytic FAD-containing domains. LÄS MER
