11. Engineering of thermometric biosensors and characterisation of redox enzymes for improved performance of biosensors/biofuel cells
Sammanfattning : The present work is mainly focused on the development of enzyme-based bioanalytical devices, which can further be applied as analytical tools for industrial, medical and environmental applications. The first part of the work deals with the practical applications of thermometric biosensors for determination of various sugars (fructose and lactose) in a real samples. LÄS MER
12. Development of Second and Third Generation Bioelectronics
Sammanfattning : The field of research dealing with the integration of biomolecules with electronic elements to form functional devices is called ‘‘bioelectronics’’. Bioelectronics based on mediated electron transfer (MET) between the biological element and the electrodes are designated as “second generation” while the one based on direct electron transfer (DET) is specified as “third generation”. 13. Facilitating electron transfer in bioelectrocatalytic systems
Sammanfattning : Bioelectrocatalytic systems are based on biological entities, such as enzymes, whole cells, parts of cells or tissues, which catalyse electrochemical processes that involve the interaction between chemical change and electrical energy. In all cases, biocatalysis is implemented by enzymes, isolated or residing inside cells or part of cells. LÄS MER

15. Intramolecular electron transfer in DNA and ruthenium(II) systems
Sammanfattning : When ruthenium(II) complexes with heteroaromatic ligands absorb light, an electron is pushed from the metal ion out into one of the ligands, a process called metal-to-ligand-charge-transfer (MLCT). The resulting excited state can be used to initiate further electron transfer processes, or it can decay relatively slow back into the ground state with the emission of light. LÄS MER
