1. Scanning tunneling microscopy and photoemission studies of Ag films on metal/semiconductor surfaces
Sammanfattning : The research presented in this thesis has been focused on the study of thin Ag films, grown on metal-reconstructed Si(111) and Ge(111) surfaces.The films have been grown at room temperature, and the morphologiesand electronic structures of the films have been investigated using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/STS), low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) and angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy(ARPES). 4. Tailored Properties of Ferromagnetic Thin Films
Sammanfattning : Magnetic thin films and patterned nanostructures have been studied with respect to their magnetic properties using SQUID-magnetometry, magnetic force microscopy, electrical measurements, and micromagnetic calculations. Properties of vortex domain walls, trapped in Permalloy nanowires with artificial constrictions, were investigated experimentally and by numerical calculations. LÄS MER
5. Carbide and MAX-Phase Engineering by Thin Film Synthesis
Sammanfattning : This thesis reports on the development of low-temperature processes for transition metal carbide and MAX-phase thin film growth.
