21. Stimulation of tendon repair by platelet concentrate, CDMP-2 and mechanical loading in animal models
Sammanfattning : Growth factor delivery may be useful to accelerate the rate of tendon healing. We studied Platelet Concentrate, which in effect can be regarded as a cocktail of growth factors relevant for tendon healing. LÄS MER
22. The effect of thrombin inhibitors on coagulation activity and generation of activated protein C
Sammanfattning : The direct thrombin inhibitor inogatran was, in the TRIM trial (n=1209), compared with unfractionated heparin (UFH) concerning the effect on cardiovascular end-points in unstable coronary artery disease. The results in TRIM demonstrated a trend towards a benefit for UFH during the treatment phase, which was reduced after drug withdrawal. LÄS MER
23. Shedding light on glycosylation : Analysis of complex carbohydrates using an affinity biosensor
Sammanfattning : The main objective during the work described in this thesis has been to develop assays for stodies of complex carbohydrates in a clinical context. Complex carbohydrates, such as free or protein linked oligosaccharides, have been shown to have important biological functions. LÄS MER
24. Proteoglycans, group IIA phospholipase A2, and lipoproteins.Potential involvement in atherogenesis
Sammanfattning : Atherosclerosis is a multifactorial complex disease characterized by a focal accumulation of ApoB-100 containing lipoproteins, extracellular matrix (ECM), and cells in the arterial intima accompanied by an inflammatory reaction. In vivo and in vitro data supports the hypothesis that sulfated extracellular proteoglycans may be responsible for the selective retention of low density lipoproteins (LDL) in the arterial wall. 25. Acute inflammation in peritoneal dialysis. Experimental studies in rats. Characterization of regulatory mechanisms
Sammanfattning : The predominant problems associated with peritoneal dialysis (PD) are ultrafiltration failure and peritonitis. PD maintains a state of intraperitoneal inflammation that affects the structure and function of the peritoneal membrane, potentially impairing ultrafiltration efficiency. LÄS MER
