21. Using Light to Probe Surface Electrochemical Processes
Sammanfattning : This thesis shows how various light-based in situ techniques can be used to follow different surface electrochemical processes such as electrochemical deposition into Nanoporous Anodic Aluminium Oxide (NP-AAO) templates and the surface structure of electrodes. Techniques based on both x-rays and visible light were used to follow surface structures and compositions, in situ. LÄS MER
22. Light scattering and absorption in pigmented coatings : Theory and experiments
Sammanfattning : Radiative transfer models are used to describe optical properties of polymericthick films containing spherical inhomogeneities with sizes comparable to thewavelength of the incident radiation. From Lorenz-Mie theory various parametersrelated to elastic light scattering and absorption by single particles are calculated, i.e. LÄS MER
23. Storage of Hydrogen Peroxide Bleached Mechanical Pulp : Reduction in Reflectance over the Visible Spectrum
Sammanfattning : The objective of this thesis is to determine possible causes of the darkening of hydrogen peroxide bleached mechanical pulp over the visible spectrum and their relative contributions. It focuses on both process conditions and the composition of the pulp and the dilution water, including additions or losses of material along the process line from the bleach tower to the paper machine. 24. In Vivo Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy of Human Tissue : From Point Measurements to Imaging
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the non-invasive use of diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) to provide information about the biochemical composition of living tissue. During DRS measurements, the incident, visible light is partially absorbed by chromophores but also scattered in the tissue before being remitted. LÄS MER
25. Optical Analysis of biological media - continuous wave diffuse spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : The main topic of this thesis is real-time quantification of relevant chromophores and light scattering elements in biological media. The presented methods and instrumentation are based on continuous wave (steady-state) optical measurements of (a) spatially-resolved diffuse reflectance from bulk media and (b) combined spatially-resolved and goniometric measurements of re-emitted light from thin samples.
