  1. 1. Laccases and Oxalate-Degrading Enzymes Heterologous Expression and Novel Applications in Lignocellulose Processing

    Författare :Pierre Cassland; Teknisk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; virologi; mykologi; bacteriology; Microbiology; Lignocellulose Processing; Heterologous expression; Laccases; Oxalate-Degrading Enzymes; bakteriologi;

    Sammanfattning : Lignocellulose constitutes a vast renewable resource for the production of, for example, paper and bioethanol. The potential of using laccase and oxalate-degrading enzymes in novel applications for the processing of lignocellulose was investigated in this work. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Cellular Aspects of Lignin Biosynthesis in Xylem Vessels of Zinnia and Arabidopsis

    Författare :Henrik Serk; Edouard Pesquet; Simon Hawkins; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lignin; tracheary elements; xylem wood; post-mortem lignification; non-cell autonomous process; xylem parenchyma; endoreplication; reactive oxygen species; laccases; peroxidases; molecular cell biology; molekylär cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Lignin is the second most abundant biopolymer on earth and is found in the wood (xylem) of vascular land plants. To transport the hydro-mineral sap, xylem forms specialized conduit cells, called tracheary elements (TEs), which are hollow dead cylinders reinforced with lateral secondary cell walls (SCW). 3. 3. Laccases from New Fungal Sources and Some Promising Applications

    Författare :Laura Mendoza; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fungi; ligninases; modification of primary alcohols; modification of lignin; laccase applications; dye decolorization;

    Sammanfattning : Fungi are a group of organisms with the ability to produce different types of enzymes in order to get access to nutrients. Among the enzymes, oxidoreductases have the ability to degrade lignocellulosic material via an oxidative mechanism, facilitating the uptake of cellulosic material, which will be metabolized using other enzymes to provide the required nutrients to the fungi. 4. 4. Oxygen-reducing enzymes in coatings and films for active packaging

    Författare :Kristin Johansson; Lars Järnström; Caisa Johansson; Leif J. Jönsson; Jose M. Lagaron; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Active packaging; food packaging; oxygen scavengers; oxygen-reducing enzymes; dispersion coating; biopolymers; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Oxygen scavengers are used in active packages to protect the food against deteriorative oxidation processes. The aim of this work was to investigate the possibilities to produce oxygen-scavenging packaging materials based on oxygen-reducing enzymes. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Spectroelectrochemistry of Redox Enzymes

    Författare :Andreas Christenson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Elektrokemi; Electrochemistry; complex II; bilirubin oxidase; laccase; enzyme mechanism; redox potential; electron transfer; spectroelectrochemistry; redox enzymes; Spectroelectrochemical cell;

    Sammanfattning : A low volume and long optical path spectroelectrochemical cell was constructed and tested in a number of applications such as detection of direct electron transfer (DET) between redox enzymes and gold electrodes, determination of the formal potentials of redox centres in proteins and enzymes, as well as mechanistic studies of heterogeneous and intermolecular electron transfer of copper oxidases and succinate:quinine oxidoreductase (Complex II). The existence of DET between enzymes and electrodes was demonstrated for theophylline oxidase, cytochrome P450 cam, laccase, bilirubin oxidase, sulphite oxidase and Complex II. LÄS MER
