6. Electro-Interfacial Composition Control by Ionic Liquid Technology : Nanostructure, Self-Assembly, and Friction
Sammanfattning : Given the potential of ionic liquids (ILs) for batteries, supercapacitors and advanced lubricants, it is crucial to understand how electric fields affect the interfacial behaviour in IL-solvent systems and the intricate relationship between nanostructure and tribotronic properties. This thesis investigates the structural and compositional changes of ILs with different solvents at electrified interfaces. LÄS MER
7. Integration of thulium silicate for enhanced scalability of high-k/metal gate CMOS technology
Sammanfattning : High-k/metal gate stacks have been introduced in CMOS technology during the last decade in order to sustain continued device scaling and ever-improving circuit performance. Starting from the 45 nm technology node, the stringent requirements in terms of equivalent oxide thickness and gate current density have rendered the replacement of the conventional SiON/poly-Si stack unavoidable. 8. Non-aqueous Electrolytes and Interfacial Chemistry in Lithium-ion Batteries
Sammanfattning : Lithium-ion battery (LIB) technology is currently the most promising candidate for power sources in applications such as portable electronics and electric vehicles. In today's state-of-the-art LIBs, non-aqueous electrolytes are the most widely used family of electrolytes. LÄS MER
9. Functional Layer-by-Layer films and aerogels of cellulose nanofibrils
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the preparation of functional Layer-by-Layer (LbL) films of cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs) and polyelectrolytes. LbL films ranging in thickness from 10 nm to 5 μm were deposited onto both solid surfaces and porous nanocellulose aerogels in order to prepare functional surfaces and materials. LÄS MER
10. Dynamic interactions of interfacial polymers
Sammanfattning : The relationship between the amount and conformation of apolymer at the solid-liquid interface, and the resultinginteraction forces between two such surfaces has beeninvestigated. With a degree of control of the polymerconformation, by varying the temperature, solvent quality, polymer charge density etc, it has been possible to measure andinterpret the resulting changes in the surface interactions.
