    Sammanfattning : In this thesis the synthesis of vicinal stereocenters is investigated in two distinct contexts, namely the construction of 3,3-disubstituted oxindoles and the synthesis of b-hydroxy-a-amino acids. Both scaffolds are prevalent in a range of natural products and biologically relevant compounds and, therefore, methods for their synthesis are of great import. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The main object of the thesis is the investigation of mechanisms for some inorganic and metallo-organic reactions by means of accurate multiconfigurational SCF and configuration interaction calculations. Stepwise dissociation of diimide into N2+H2 is found to be slightly preferred before a concerted mechanism.
