41. Implication of chemical deterioration on mechanical performance of wood
Sammanfattning : The oak wood of the 17th century warship Vasa has shown significant changes in the chemical and mechanical properties as compared to recent oak. The most important factors contributing to these changes are the incorporation of iron compounds during waterlogging and the uptake of polyethylene glycol (PEG) in the course of the preservation treatment. 42. Molecular Level Studies of the Metal/Atmosphere Interface
Sammanfattning : The chemistry andphysics involved at the metal/atmosphereinterface is interesting both from a fundamental and an appliedperspective. Since iron is the most important of all metalsthis interface is of particular interest. LÄS MER
43. Optical Diagnostics of Non-thermal Plasmas and Plasma-assisted Combustion
Sammanfattning : Non-thermal plasma is regarded as a collection of free electrons, ions and neutral particles that are not at local thermodynamic equilibrium. The high-energetic electrons formed in non-thermal plasmas are capable of generating chemically active species and modifying chemical kinetics in practical applications. LÄS MER
44. Functional Nanocellulose–Tannin Materials Inspired by Nature and Traditional Processes
Sammanfattning : Renewable and biodegradable alternatives to fossil-based materials are essential as concerns over depleting finite resources and the pollution of our ecosystems are growing. Abundant, highly anisotropic, and mechanically strong cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) are attractive building blocks for the fabrication of high-performance biobased materials that can compete with their conventional fossil-based counterparts. 45. Atmospheric corrosion of Mg and MgAl alloys – characterization and mechanisms
Sammanfattning : The atmospheric corrosion of Mg and MgAl alloys was investigated. Corrosion tests were performed in the laboratory under controlled environment. CP Mg, AM50 and AZ91 samples were exposed at 95% RH and 22°C in the presence and in the absence of 400 ppm CO2 for 24 h to 672 h. The passive film was characterized by means of XPS, FTIR, AES and XRD. LÄS MER
