  1. 31. Electro-Acoustic and Electronic Applications Utilizing Thin Film Aluminium Nitride

    Författare :David Michael Martin; J. Olsson; I. Katardjiev; S. Gevorgian; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; AlN; FBAR; FPAR; CMP; SOI; Nickel Silicide; Wafer Bonding; Electronics; Elektronik; Elektronik; Electronics;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years there has been a huge increase in the growth of communication systems such as mobile phones, wireless local area networks (WLAN), satellite navigation and various other forms of wireless data communication that have made analogue frequency control a key issue. The increase in frequency spectrum crowding and the increase of frequency into microwave region, along with the need for minimisation and capacity improvement, has shown the need for the development of high performance, miniature, on-chip filters operating in the low to medium GHz frequency range. 2. 32. A Play of Light and Spins: Excitation and Detection of Non-linear Magnetization Dynamics using Light

    Författare :Shreyas Muralidhar; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spin waves; laser-induced magnetization dynamics; Brillouin light scattering; Spin Hall nano-oscillators; neuromorphic computing; Ising machines;

    Sammanfattning : The excitation and detection of magnetization dynamics play key roles in the field of spintronics and magnonics. In this thesis, we investigate a contactless method of exciting nonlinear magnetization dynamics using a femtosecond pulsed laser, and study the same with a Brillouin Light Scattering (BLS) microscope. 3. 33. InAs Nanowire Devices and Circuits

    Författare :Kristofer Jansson; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Modelling; Circuit; Simulation; Ballistic; Capacitor; Transistor; RF; Band structure; III-V semiconductor; InAs; MOSFET; Metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor; Nanowire; Amplifier;

    Sammanfattning : Since the introduction of the transistor and the integrated circuit, the semiconductor industry has developed at a remarkable pace. By continuously fabricating smaller and faster transistors, it has been possible to maintain an exponential increase in performance, a phenomenon famously described by Moore’s Law. LÄS MER

  4. 34. Short- and long-term effects of long-chain free fatty acids on pancreatic α- and β-cell function

    Författare :Charlotta Olofsson; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; diabetologi; sekretion; Endokrinologi; diabetology; secreting systems; Endocrinology; type-2 diabetes.; intracellular free Ca2 ; exocytosis; Free fatty acids; pancreatic α- and β-cells;

    Sammanfattning : We have investigated the in vitro effects of long-chain free fatty acids (FFAs) on mouse pancreatic α- and β-cells by a combination of electrophysiological recordings, intracellular Ca2+ ([Ca2+]i) microfluorimetry and hormone release measurements. Acute addition of the saturated FFA palmitate to intact islets doubled insulin as well as glucagon secretion in the presence of 1 or 15 mM glucose and the FFA remained capable of enhancing release of both hormones in islets depolarised with high K+ in the presence of the KATP channel opener diazoxide, indicating that alterations of ATP sensitive potassium (KATP) channel activity is not part of the effect. 5. 35. Thermal and mechanical studies of carbon nanotube-polymer composites synthesized at high pressure and high temperature

    Författare :Bounphanh Tonpheng; Ove Andersson; Sylwester J. Rzoska; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, thermal and mechanical properties of polymers and carbon nanotubes-polymer composites, which were modified and studied under high pressure, are presented. The results concern the thermal conductivity κ and heat capacity per unit volume ρcp of pure polymers: polyisoprene (PI), polybutadiene (PB), and nylon-6, and their multi-wall and single-wall carbon nanotube (MWCNT and SWCNT) composites both before (untreated) and after high pressure treatments.
