  1. 36. Cytokine production in allogeneic haematopoietic stem-cell transplantation patients

    Författare :Mats Remberger; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Severe immunological complications may occur after haematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (HSCT). These include acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), veno-occlusive disease of the liver (VOD) and severe infections. LÄS MER

  2. 37. Umbilical cord blood transplantation : clinical outcome, chimerism development, and in vitro expansion of T-cells for clinical use

    Författare :Sofia Berglund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Umbilical cord blood (UCB) is an alternative graft source in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). The unique advantages with UCB as a stem cell source are found in the permissibility for human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-mismatch, rapid availability, and comparatively risk-free graft collection. 3. 38. Antitumor effect in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in patients with solid cancer

    Författare :Réka Conrad; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) has been presented as a promising immunotherapy not only against hematological malignancies but also against solid tumors. Different solid tumors such as renal cell, breast, colon, prostate and advanced primary liver cancer have been treated with HSCT at our center. LÄS MER

  4. 39. Gastro-intestinal toxicity related to haemopoietic stem cell transplantation with a special focus on the intestinal barrier function

    Författare :Jan-Erik Johansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The myeloablative, cytotoxic therapy (conditioning treatment) prior to haemopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) has the combined purpose of eliminating leukaemic or cancer cells located in the bone marrow or elsewhere in the body and, in the allogeneic setting, of suppressing the immune response of the recipient to prevent marrow rejection. The unwanted effect is the inevitable elimination of normal, haemopoietic stem cells, a lethal effect which is circumvented by the following administration of haemopoietic stem cells from the patient (autologous HSCT) or from a related or an unrelated donor (allogeneic HSCT). 5. 40. Genetic variation of tight junction structures in intestinal inflammation

    Författare :Elisabeth Norén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The epithelial barrier facing the external environment in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract is comprised of several components, including the tight junction (TJ) structures observed for the first time in 1963. TJ structures, which are multiprotein complexes composed of transmembrane proteins and a diverse spectrum of intracellular components, create a primary barrier to diffusion of ions, solutes, and water and they concomitantly prevent permeation of pro-inflammatory factors, such as pathogens, toxins, and antigens.
