21. Studies of specific immunity against viral infections in patients after stem cell transplantation
Sammanfattning : Recipients of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) experience a prolonged period of immune deficiency, resulting in significant morbidity and mortality from the infections. Viruses such as cytomegalovirus (CMV) and influenza virus are frequent causes of infectious complications following allo-HSCT. LÄS MER
22. Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) : detection and elimination of infected blood cells in vitro, immune reactivity and complications following HCMV infection
Sammanfattning : Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) belongs to the herpes virus family and establishes life-long persistence in a latent state following a primary infection. HCMV disease causes high morbidity in immunosuppressed individuals, such as bone marrow and organ transplant patients. LÄS MER
23. Primary immunodeficiency in southern Sweden. Strategies for diagnosis and clinical management
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this PhD project was to gain insight into the incidence of primary immunodeficiency (PID) in southern Sweden and to optimize diagnostic and treatment measures for these patients. We estimated the occurrence rate of PID in the pediatric population of southern Sweden during a period of 4 years and described the demographic, clinical and immunological characteristics of the identified cases. 24. Herpesvirus infections in transplant recipients
Sammanfattning : Abstract Herpesvirus infections are common and can cause serious and life-threatening conditions in transplanted individuals. In this thesis, consisting of 4 papers (I-IV), we investigated primary infection and reactivation of Cytomegalovirus (CMV), Human Herpesvirus type 6 (HHV-6), Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) and Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) in transplant patients. 25. Aplastic anemia - a population-based study of epidemiology, treatment, and prognostic factors
Sammanfattning : Background and aims. Aplastic anemia (AA) is a rare but life-threatening disease. The introduction of immunosuppressive treatment (IST) and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) has considerably improved the outcome of patients with AA. However, modern-day population-based data are limited. LÄS MER
