41. Human herpesvirus 6 infection after allogeneic stem cell transplantation
Sammanfattning : Human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) is a lymphotropic virus mainly infecting T lymphocytes but also other types of cells. Seroepidemiological studies have shown that more than 90% of individuals older than 2 years are seropositive for HHV-6. LÄS MER
42. Immune repertoire diversity in allogeneic stem cell transplantation and its implications for infections and the graft versus leukemia effect
Sammanfattning : The beneficial graft versus leukemia effect (GVL) and its detrimental counterparts, graft versus host disease (GVHD) and susceptibility to infections, are all coupled to a multitude of events during the immune reconstitution (IR) after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). The general aim of this thesis has been to learn more about the IR in HSCT with a particular focus on the impact of infections, natural killer (NK) cell mediated GVL effects and the possibility to apply GVL effects in adoptive cell therapy. 43. Graft viability and transfusion related complications in patients undergoing stem cell transplantation
Sammanfattning : Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a treatment strategy for patients with hematopoietic malignancies and inborn errors of metabolism or immunodeficiencies. A successful clinical outcome depends on many factors, such as underlying disease, the patients’ status, treatment protocol, donor, graft source and occurrence and severity of complications such as graft versus host disease (GVHD) and infections. 44. New approaches to preparation and storage of platelets
Sammanfattning : During the last century, transfusion of blood components has become a prerequisite for treatment in many clinical settings. The availability of plastic bags and methods for centrifugation and separation of blood cells, has enabled processing of whole blood into blood cell components, and made it possible to optimize transfusion therapy, as well as storage conditions. 45. Diversity and focus of CMV specific T-cell responses in patients post-HSCT and with solid tumor
Sammanfattning : Human Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a beta-herpesvirus that commonly infects humans. Most symptoms in healthy individuals are very mild. The virus is never eliminated and remains in the individual life-long. Thus, CMV and the immune response stay in coexistence until the protective response remains. LÄS MER
