11. Biosynthesis of Dermatan Sulphate. Enzymatic mechanism and role of cytokines
Sammanfattning : Dermatan sulphate is a prominent feature of several different proteoglycans and occurs in almost every tissue of the body. It is an unbranched polymer containing the repeating disaccharide unit of N-acetylgalactosamine and D-glucuronic acid or L-iduronic acid. LÄS MER
12. Studies on the Role of UDP-Glucose Dehydrogenase in Polysaccharide Biosynthesis
Sammanfattning : Polysaccharides are found in all forms of life and serve diverse purposes. They are enzymatically synthesised from activated monosaccharide precursors, nucleotide sugars. One such nucleotide sugar is UDP-glucuronic acid, which is formed from UDP-glucose by the UDP-glucose dehydrogenase (UGDH) enzyme. LÄS MER
13. Design and synthesis of glycose-derivatives and related molecules for cell membrane mimetics
Sammanfattning : A series of glucopyranose (α-D-glucose, β-D-glucose, D-gluconic acid and 6-amino-6-deoxy-D-glocuse) terminated alkanethiol acetals have been successfully synthesized. α and β-D-glucose were configured in controlled ways coupling with alkanethiol, in which bromosugar and trichloroacetirnidates were selected as activated glycosyl donors using different promoters tetraalkylammonium bromide (Et4NBr) and trimethylsilanetriflate (TMSOTf) respectively. 14. Cellular regulation of heparan sulfate structure and function
Sammanfattning : Heparan sulfate (HS) is a sulfated glycosaminoglycan found on cell surfaces and in the extracellular matrix as HS proteoglycans. HS is synthesized as a polymer of alternating glucuronic acid and N-acetylglucosamine units. LÄS MER
15. Synthesis of oligosaccharides related to the capsular polysaccharides of Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype 9 and of Cryptococcus neoformans
Sammanfattning : In the present investigation, synthesis of oligosaccharides corresponding to structural elements present in the capsular polysaccharides of Streptococcus pneumoniae and Cryptococcus neoformans has been achieved. The first two sections describe the synthesis of spacer-equipped oligosaccharides corresponding to structures from the CPS of Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes 9N, 9A and 9L, the production of which involved synthetic challenges such as the construction of β-ManNAc and α-GlcA linkages.
