  1. 16. Non-target Effects of Genetically Modified Trees

    Författare :Patrik Blomberg; Anders Wennström; Jan Stenlid; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genetically modified; GM trees; secondary metabolism; phytochemistry; Populus; transgenic; non-target effects; natural enemies; plant-pathogen herbivore interaction; environmental effects; parasitic fungi; herbivorous insect; Terrestrial ecology; Terrestisk ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : To date, few studies have focused on the effects of genetically modified trees (GM trees) on the environment. One concern with GM trees is that they may have unanticipated effects on non-target organisms, i.e. effects on organisms that are not direct targets of the genetically modified trait. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Advances in studying the role of genetic divergence and recombination in adaptation in non-model species

    Författare :Ramprasad Neethiraj; Christopher Wheat; Sören Nylin; Mathieu Joron; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Recombination; Genetic divergence; Lepidoptera; Genetic variation; Genetic diversity; Holocentric chromosomes; cis-regulatory variation; Allele-specific expression; populationsgenetik; Population Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding the role of genetic divergence and recombination in adaptation is crucial to understanding the evolutionary potential of species since they can directly affect the levels of genetic variation present within populations or species. Genetic variation in the functional parts of the genome such as exons or regulatory regions is the raw material for evolution, because natural selection can only operate on phenotypic variation already present in the population. 3. 18. Involvement of evolutionarily plastic regions in cancer associated CHR3 aberrations

    Författare :Eva Darai-Ramqvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : A functional test to identify tumor antagonizing regions on chromosome 3 (chr3), called the Elimination Test, was developed in our group. It is based on microcell mediated transfer of human chr3 into mouse or human tumor cells and analysis of the monochromosomal hybrids after their growth in vivo. LÄS MER

  4. 19. A microcell hybrid based 'elimination test' in the search for malignancy related genes

    Författare :Stephan Imreh; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on the elimination test developed by us (Imreh et al, 1994). The elimination test was designed as a functional test for malignancy related gene identification. Its task is to follow the cytogenetic and molecular alterations on single normal chromosomes transferred into tumor cells. LÄS MER
