11. Experimental and Numerical Analyses of the Dynamic Behaviour of Hollow-Core Concrete Floors
Sammanfattning : Precast hollow-core (HC) concrete slabs are widely used in construction, especially in Nordic countries. The combination of prestressing and low self-weight due to the voids makes it possible to build long-span floors. However, this also implies that the HC concrete floors become more sensitive to vibrations from human activities. LÄS MER
12. Study on Metallic Melt Coolant Interactions and Debris Bed Formation in a Water Pool
Sammanfattning : To assess corium coolability during severe accidents of LWR, significant number of studies have been conducted previously to investigate the characteristics of debris beds formed from FCI due to fragmentation of molten corium and settlement of the fragments in a water pool. However, their focus has been placed on the oxidic component (UO2/ZrO2) of corium, while little attention has been paid to the debris bed formation due to FCI of the metallic component (Zr/Fe) of corium. 13. Identification and evaluation of slip and fall risk on ice and snow
Sammanfattning : Roads and pavements covered with ice and snow during winter in the Nordic and other cold regions are slippery, which result in the prevalence of slip and fall accidents among not only the public, but also outdoor workers. Literature and injury statistics revealed that the most frequently specified contributory factor for occupational slip, trip and fall accidents in Sweden is snow and ice. LÄS MER
14. Carbon nanotubes in nanomedicine
Sammanfattning : The development of nanomedicine is based primarily on the development of smart and multifunctional nanomaterials that can serve under the different clusters including drug delivery systems, diagnostics, and regenerative medicine. Recently, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have received enormous attention due to their extraordinary properties. LÄS MER
15. Why Work? : Comparative Studies on Welfare Regimes and Individuals' Work Orientations
Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this thesis is to examine how different welfare and production regimes may have structured individuals’ work orientations into cross-national patterns by the late 1990s and early 2000s. Three different aspects of work orientations are considered in the three studies. LÄS MER
