1. Microfluidics for High-Pressure Inertial Focusing : Focusing, Separation and Concentration of Micro and Sub-micron Particles
Sammanfattning : The birth of microsystems set the ground for technologies never imagined before, for it is not only the small size what characterizes the miniaturized systems, but unique phenomena arise in the micro scale. This thesis relates to one such unique phenomenon, inertial focusing, a phenomenon that occurs in microfluidic systems if very special conditions are met and that allows for fine manipulation of particles in fluid samples. 2. Essays on economic behavior, focusing and auctions
Sammanfattning : This thesis contributes to research on experimental and behavioral economics as well as auction theory. It consists of five papers. The first paper, Differences Attract: An Experimental Study of Focusing in Economic Choice, studies whether individuals' decisions are affected by focus effects. LÄS MER
3. On focusing of shock waves
Sammanfattning : Both experimental and numerical investigations of converging shock waves have been performed. In the experiments, a shock tube was used to create and study converging shock waves of various geometrical shapes. Two methods were used to create polygonally shaped shocks. LÄS MER
4. On focusing of strong shock waves
Sammanfattning : Focusing of strong shock waves in a gas-filled thin test section with various forms of the reflector boundary is investigated. The test section is mounted at the end of the horizontal co-axial shock tube. Two different methods to produce shock waves of various forms are implemented. LÄS MER
5. Supplier development within and beyond the dyad : Focusing on supplier experiences
Sammanfattning : Supplier development is an important buyer tool for enhancing supplier performanceand capability. However, it does not come with a guarantee for success. The reportedless-than-expected outcomes of supplier-development are sometimes explained by aone-way view of supplier development based in the buyer’s perspective. LÄS MER
