  1. 1. Knee flexion contracture and flexed knee gait in children with cerebral palsy

    Författare :Evelina Pantzar-Castilla; Jacques Riad; Per Wretenberg; Piotr Michno; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cerebral palsy; knee flexion contracture; 2- and 3-dimensional gait analysis; video assessment; gait; flexed knee gait; functional measures; orthopedic surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Cerebral palsy (CP) is considered the most common cause of physical disability in childhood. Most children will walk, but gait often deteriorates with growth and development. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Gait strategy in myelomeningocele : movements, mechanics and methods

    Författare :Elena M Gutierrez; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Myelomeningocele; spina bifida; gait analysis; movement analysis; muscle paresis; compensatory movements; orthoses; centre of mass.;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to describe the movement patterns employed in self-ambulatory children with a range of muscle paresis due to nervous tissue damage resulting from myelomeningocele, a common congenital malformation of the spinal column resulting in sensory and motor paresis. Using 3D movement analysis, the upper and lower body kinematics, movement of the center of mass, and joint moments, powers, and work done during gait in 32 children with lumbo-sacral myelomeningocele were analyzed and divided into 5 groups based on the severity of paresis. 3. 3. Biomechanical Consequences of Foot and Ankle Injury and Deformity: Kinematics and Muscle Function

    Författare :Ruoli Wang; Elena Gutierrez-Farewik; Eva Broström; Eriksson Anders; Toni Arndt; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to discuss kinematics and muscle function changes due to foot and ankle injury or deformity. The first study aims to characterize gait patterns of subjects with a common lower limb injury, ankle fractures. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Post-polio syndrome : physiotherapeutic analysis and interventions

    Författare :Katarina Skough; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Post-polio syndrome;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents four studies focusing on outcomes of gait performance using gait analysis and/or the Six-minute-walk test (6MWT), in patients with post-polio syndrome (PPS). Further, resistance training in combination with Coenzyme Q10 (Q10) and intravenous immunoglobulin treatment (IvIg) in PPS patients was evaluated. LÄS MER
