  1. 16. FtsH metalloproteases and their pseudo-proteases in the chloroplast envelope of Arabidopsis thaliana

    Författare :Laxmi S. Mishra; Christiane Funk; Magnus Wolf-Watz; Catherine de Vitry; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Arabidopsis thaliana; AAA-ATPases; abscisic acid; chloroplast; drought; embryo-lethal; FtsH metalloprotease; intrinsic water-use efficiency WUEi ; leaf variegation; outdoor conditions; oxidative stress; plastid biogenesis; proteomics; protein import; root-associated bacterial communities seedlings; Biochemistry; biokemi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology; biology; biologi;

    Sammanfattning : By cleaving peptide bonds, proteases either activate or degrade proteins and maintain protein quality control in response to various developmental stimuli and environmental factors. My work has focused on elucidating the role of the filamentation temperature sensitive protein H (FtsH) proteases. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Diverse cyclic dinucleotide signals regulate Escherichia coli lifestyle transition

    Författare :Fengyang Li; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Bacteria have the ability to change their lifestyle to adapt to various environmental conditions. Cyclic dinucleotides (cDNs) are ubiquitous second messengers that can regulate fundamental lifestyle switches, such as motility versus sessility and acute versus chronic virulence, in bacteria. 3. 18. Beta-lactam and metronidazole resistance in the Bacteroides fragilis group

    Författare :Hong Fang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Bacteroides fragilis group; beta-lactam; metronidazole; resistance; beta-lactamase; penicillinbinding proteins PBPs ; outer membrane proteins OMPs ;

    Sammanfattning : The Bacteroides fragilis group organisms are anaerobic gram-negative bacilli. Ten species are currently included in this group. Members of the B. fragilis group are the major constituents of the normal colonic microflora and the most commonly encountered anaerobic bacteria in clinical specimens. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Filament assembly and structural studies of intermediate filament like protein, FilP, in Streptomyces coelicolor

    Författare :Ala Javadi; Linda Sandblad; Martin Thanbichler; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cytoskeleton; Intermediate filament-like; FilP; Streptomyces coelicolor; filament assembly; cryoelectron tomography; single particle analysis; crystallography; cellulose affinity;

    Sammanfattning : The cytoskeleton, known as intracellular connected filaments, has a prominent role in cellular behavior, motility, and stability. The following three major types of polymers have been characterized as cytoskeleton in eukaryotes: microtubules that are 25 nm in diameter, actin filaments that are 7 nm in diameter, and intermediate filaments (IF) that are 10 nm in diameter.
