11. Can new treatment combinations make sewage sludge management more sustainable?
Sammanfattning : Treated sewage sludge is often reused as a fertilizer but several European countries are phasing out this option due to concerns about harmful substances in the sludge. Valuables in the sludge should still be recycled so the removal of the pollutants is necessary. LÄS MER
12. European ecosystems on a changing planet : Integrating climate change and land-use intensity data
Sammanfattning : Dynamic global vegetation models are mathematical models that provide a bottom-up description of plant communities. They explicitly model physiological and population-level processes such as growth, photosynthesis, carbon allocation, regeneration and mortality. LÄS MER
13. Nutrient recovery from waste streams through struvite formation
Sammanfattning : Eutrophication or the nutrient enrichment of water bodies, typically by nitrogen and phosphorus has adversely affected the aquatic life and the quality of water. Governments have been forced to take actions in order to reduce the release of these nutrients into the environment. LÄS MER
14. Physical, Chemical and Biochemical Modifications of Industrial Softwood Kraft Lignin for Different Applications
Sammanfattning : Various technical lignins, e.g. industrial Softwood Kraft lignin (SKL), are now largely available while they are generally underutilized due to their heterogeneous and complicated structures and/or the poor properties. LÄS MER
15. Integrated sewage sludge treatment scenarios – techno-economic analysis on energy and phosphorus recovery
Sammanfattning : Sewage sludge is a by-product of wastewater treatment that simultaneously gathers contaminants, valuable organic matter, and nutrients. The treatment of the increasing amount of sewage sludge is important from both pollution prevention and resource recovery perspectives as i) large shares of mineral phosphorus, listed as a critical raw material, terminate in the sewage sludge, and ii) energy recovery from sewage sludge can cover the energy-intensive demand of the treatment process.
