16. Year-round production of forest seedlings under LED lamps : Biological and energetic implications of indoor cultivation
Sammanfattning : Year-round cultivation of forest seedlings under light emitting diodes (LED) is a technology receiving increased attention from nurseries in the boreal forest regions. In these areas, the climate is characterized by strong seasonal fluctuations, resulting in short vegetation periods with narrow time windows for seedling transplanting and outdoor growth. LÄS MER
17. Food or fuel? : trade-offs between food and biofuels globally and in small-scale organic agriculture
Sammanfattning : There are great expectations on agriculture to provide both food and fuels in the future. Previous attempts to estimate the global bioenergy potential have produced varying results, indicating major uncertainty. This thesis investigated the global theoretical 'potential', or limit, for biofuels based on current agricultural systems. LÄS MER
18. Land-use competition and agricultural greenhouse gas emissions in a climate change mitigation perspective
Sammanfattning : Productive land for food production, bioenergy, or preservation of nature is a limited resource. Climate change mitigation puts additional pressure on land via higher demand for bioenergy to replace fossil fuels and via restrictions on deforestation—two processes that limit the availability of land for food produc- tion, and may thus also raise food prices. 19. Models of Cooperation, Learning and Catastrophic Risk
Sammanfattning : Our world presents us with dangers and opportunities. Some of these dangers and opportunities are easier to handle if two or more individuals learn to cooperate. This thesis contributes five papers about cooperation, learning and catastrophic risk. LÄS MER
20. Modelling Climate Policy – Trade-Off Metrics, Resource Markets, and Uncertainty
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of five papers related to climate change policy. In paper I andpaper II we discuss the use of Global Warming Potentials (GWPs) that facilitate the tradeoffbetween abatement of the different greenhouse gases (GHGs). LÄS MER
