21. Development and characterization of functional composite materials for advanced energy conversion technologies
Sammanfattning : The solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is a potential high efficient electrochemical device for vehicles, auxiliary power units and large-scale stationary power plants combined heat and power application. The main challenges of this technology for market acceptance are associated with cost and lifetime due to the high temperature (700-1000 oC) operation and complex cell structure, i. LÄS MER
22. Tailoring and Characterization of Polymer-linked Fibrillar Structures
Sammanfattning : The development of sustainable and renewable materials is paramount in today’s society. As the most abundant biopolymer on Earth, cellulose from cellulose-rich fibres is an excellent alternative for advanced and innovative material solutions. LÄS MER
23. Characterization of interfaces by elastic light scattering and profilometry
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the characterization of interfaces by elastic light scattering and profilometry. The sensitivity of scattering measurements to surface topography were used in two major ways. It was shown that surface reactions in a liquid-solid interface can be monitored in situ in terms of changes in surface roughness. LÄS MER
24. Structure and dynamics in solution – the core electron perspective
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on theoretical studies of the molecular and electronic structure of solvated ions and molecules. Very detailed information of the system can be obtained from theoretical calculations, but a realistic model is dependent on an accurate computational method. LÄS MER
25. Nanostructured Fuel Cell Catalysts
Sammanfattning : A long term challenge for society is to develop sustainable energy systems to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels and to decrease air pollution. This requires new alternatives regarding the supply of energy and increased efficiency of the future energy systems. Fuel cell technology is one such possible alternative. LÄS MER
