36. Studies of drug resistance in minor HIV quasispecies
Sammanfattning : The main objective was to study drug resistance mutations (DRM) in the HIV-1 reverse transcriptase (RT) gene of minor HIV-1 quasispecies, not detectable with standard techniques. Sensitive allele-specific PCR (AS- PCR) and next-generation sequencing (NGS) were developed to study resistance to drugs of relevance in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC); the nucleoside analogue RT inhibitor (NRTI) lamivudine (3TC) and the non-nucleoside RT inhibitors (NNRTIs) efavirenz (EFV) and nevirapine (NVP). 37. Topoisomerase II and drug resistance in leukemic cells
Sammanfattning : Mechanisms for resistance to chemotherapy include among other, elevated p-glycoprotein (p-gp) level and/or altered topoisomerase II level (topo II). The present study focused on topo 11 expression, and the enzyme related in vitro drug sensitivities in human myeloid leukemic K562 cell line and isolated peripheral mononuclear cells from patients with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), and with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). 38. Kinetics of HIV-1 drug resistance mutations in vivo
Sammanfattning : Antiretroviral therapy (ARV) exert a selective pressure on HIV-1 and may select viral drug resistant strains which have competitive advantage in the presence of the drug. Knowledge about the appearance and disappearance of these mutations is important when choosing ARV. LÄS MER
39. Analysis of the interaction between HIV-1 protease and inhibitors : Applications for drug discovery
Sammanfattning : The aims of this study were to identify and characterize inhibitors of HIV-l protease aspotential leads in a drug discovery process, and to develop improved methods for suchcharacterization. More than 300 inhibitors, including linear and cyclic peptidomimetictransition state analogs and Cu2+, were analyzed. LÄS MER
