  1. 11. Drug interaction surveillance using individual case safety reports

    Författare :Johanna Strandell; Staffan Hägg; Niklas Norén; Andrew Bate; Robin E. Ferner; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Adverse drug reactions; adverse drug interaction surveillance; drug interactions; individual case safety reports; postmarketing pharmacovigilance; signal detection; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Drug interactions resulting in adverse drug reactions (ADRs) represent a major health problem both for individuals and society in general. Post-marketing pharmacovigilance reporting databases with compiled individual case safety reports (ICSRs) have been shown to be particularly useful in the detection of novel drug - ADR combinations, though these reports have not been fully used to detect adverse drug interactions. 2. 12. Sequential Decision-Making for Drug Design: Towards closed-loop drug design

    Författare :Hampus Gummesson Svensson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; de novo drug design; multi-armed bandits; active learning; reinforcement learning; reaction yield prediction;

    Sammanfattning : Drug design is a process of trial and error to design molecules with a desired response toward a biological target, with the ultimate goal of finding a new medication. It is estimated to be up to 10^{60} molecules that are of potential interest as drugs, making it a difficult problem to find suitable molecules. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Synthesis of Polymeric Nanocomposites for Drug Delivery and Bioimaging

    Författare :Heba Asem; Joydeep Dutta; Moustapha Hassan; Fei Ye; Jöns Hilborn; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biodegradable polymers; SPION; QDs; drug delivery; cytotoxicity; MRI; in vivo fluorescence imaging; biodistribution; Fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Nanomaterials have gained great attention for biomedical applications due to their extraordinary physico-chemical and biological properties. The current dissertation presents the design and development of multifunctional nanoparticles for molecular imaging and controlled drug delivery applications which include biodegradable polymeric nanoparticles, superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION)/polymeric nanocomposite for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and drug delivery, manganese-doped zinc sulfide (Mn:ZnS) quantum dots (QDs)/ SPION/ polymeric nanocomposites for fluorescence imaging, MRI and drug delivery. Sammanfattning : This thesis contains two manuscripts: Tumor Static Concentration Curves in Combination Therapy and Extending the Tumor Static Concentration Curve to Exposure - A Combination Therapy Example with Radiation Therapy. There is also an introductory chapter presenting some basic facts necessary to understand the appended manuscripts. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Potentially inappropriate drug treatment among older people with cognitive impairment

    Författare :Eva Sönnerstam; Maria Gustafsson; Maria Sjölander; Hugo Lövheim; Ylva Böttiger; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Older people; major neurocognitive disorder; cognitive impairment; potentially inappropriate medications; drug-drug interactions; renal function; adverse drug reactions; nursing homes; time trends; Clinical Pharmacology; klinisk farmakologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The aging process contributes to alterations in organ systems, which lead to an increased risk for chronic conditions. Drug treatment is an important strategy in the management of chronic conditions; however, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic alterations contribute to increased sensitivity to drug effects. LÄS MER
