1. Towards improvement of geometrical quality for manual assembly parts
Sammanfattning : Geometrical variation affects all mass-produced products. This variation will lead to deviations from the nominal design of the product both in terms of aesthetical and functional properties. Geometrical variation originates either from the manufacturing of the parts or from the assembly process. LÄS MER
2. Design for Producibility in Fabricated Aerospace Components - A framework for predicting and controlling geometrical variation and weld quality defects during multidisciplinary design
Sammanfattning : In the aerospace industry, weight reduction has been one of the key factors in making aircraft more fuel efficient in order to satisfy environmental demands and increase competitiveness. One strategy adopted by aircraft component suppliers to reduce weight has been fabrication, in which small cast or forged parts are welded together into a final shape. LÄS MER
3. Practices for Manufacturing Involvement in New Product Development : A study with assembly requirements in focus

4. EFFICIENCY OF FLEXIBLE FIXTURES: DESIGN AND CONTROL
Sammanfattning : The manufacturing industries have been using flexible production technologies to meet the demand for customisation. As a part of production, fixtures have remained limited to dedicated technologies, even though numerous flexible fixtures have been studied and proposed by both academia and industry. LÄS MER
5. Managing Interruptions in Manufacturing : Towards a Theoretical Framework for Interruptions in Manufacturing Assembly
Sammanfattning : The effect of interruptions from ICT systems on assembly workers in manufacturing is examined in this thesis, as is how the risks of errors, increases in assembly time, increased cognitive load and resultant stress can be mitigated, as well as ensuring that important new information is acted upon. To these ends, a literature study was conducted, followed by two studies using an experimental approach in an environment that simulated a manufacturing assembly situation, and used tasks designed to be representative of manufacturing assembly tasks.
