1. Health-related aerosol particle studies, respiratory tract deposition and indoor source identification
Sammanfattning : Aerosol particles have, since Classical Antiquity, been linked to adverse effects on human health. It is estimated that the particles in urban air pollution causes 100 000 deaths in Europe each year, whereof 5 000 in Sweden. LÄS MER
2. Atmospheric transport of persistent organic pollutants to aquatic ecosystems
Sammanfattning : The load of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) is considered high in the Baltic ecosystem. The Baltic Sea spans over 12 latitudes and the regional differences in climate affect the behavior of POPs. LÄS MER
3. Landscape hydrogeochemistry of Fe, Mn, S and trace elements (As, Co, Pb) in a boreal stream network
Sammanfattning : The transport of elements by streams from headwater regions to the sea is influenced by landscape characteristics. This thesis focuses on the influence of landscape characteristics (e.g. LÄS MER
4. Radiation exposure of human populations in villages in Russia and Belarus affected by fallout from the Chernobyl reactor
Sammanfattning : A quarter of a century has elapsed since the catastrophe at the nuclear power plant in Chernobyl. The radioactive fallout affected all the European countries and most severely the three countries of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. LÄS MER
5. Studies on the deposition, bioavailability and systemic activity of glucocorticoids in man
Sammanfattning : The local deposition, pharmacokinetics, and systemic activity of inhaled and intranasal glucocorticosteroids in different formulations and devices(ICSs) has been investigated. After nasal administration of the ICS budesonide (Bud), the systemic availability (F) was found to be significantly higher from an aqueous pump spray and from the powder inhaler Turbuhaler, than from a pressurized metered dose inhaler (pMDI), and the uptake process was slower and less complete with the pMDI formulation.
