  1. 1. Methods for the Assessment of Long-Lived Radionuclides in Humans Resulting from Nuclear Activities or Accidents - Fission track analysis of trace-amounts 239Pu and a copper hexacyanoferrate kit for monitoring radiocaesium

    Författare :Lena Johansson; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; caesium; plutonium; fission track analysis; urine; internal contamination; whole-body counting; Physics; Chernobyl; Fysik; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Fission track analysis (FTA) was developed to be applied to ultra-low levels of 239Pu in bioassay samples. An analytical protocol was established for the FTA processing. The detection limit was determined to 1.5 µBq and the calibration constant was 24 fission fragments per µBq 239Pu. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Radiation exposure of human populations in villages in Russia and Belarus affected by fallout from the Chernobyl reactor

    Författare :Christian Bernhardsson; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chernobyl; caesium; effective dose; OSL; NaCl; TL; LiF; radiation protection survey instruments; deposition variability; long-term series;

    Sammanfattning : A quarter of a century has elapsed since the catastrophe at the nuclear power plant in Chernobyl. The radioactive fallout affected all the European countries and most severely the three countries of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Studies on the Gamma Radiation Environment in Sweden with Special Reference to 137Cs

    Författare :Sara Almgren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gamma radiation; caesium; 137Cs; deposition; migration; precipitation; in situ; CDE; NWF; Chernobyl; soil sampling; field measurements; dose measurements; dose rate; TLD; natural radiation; Kriging;

    Sammanfattning : Gamma radiation in the environment today mainly originates from naturally occurring radionuclides, but anthropogenic radionuclides, such as 137Cs, contribute in some areas. In order to assess population exposure in case of fallout from nuclear weapons (NWF) or accidents, knowledge and monitoring of external gamma radiation and radionuclide concentrations in the environment is important. 5. 5. Diffusion of Radionuclides in Bentonite Clay : Laboratory and in sity Studies

    Författare :Mats Jansson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bentonite; montmorillonite; cation; anion; diffusion; sorption; cobalt; caesium; strontium; iodide; pertechnetate; surface diffusion; in situ; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the diffusion of ions in compactedbentonite clay. Laboratory experiments were performed toexamine in detail different processes that affect thediffusion. To demonstrate that the results obtained from thelaboratory investigations are valid under in situ conditions,two different kinds of in situ experiments were performed. LÄS MER
